Círculo Eça de Queiroz hosted the launch of the book “For the Love of India,” authored by member João Feyo Folque, in an initiative organized in partnership with Edições Ex-Libris. The event brought together literature and culture, featuring a traditional Indian dance performance and a tasting of typical delicacies such as samosas and Indian tea, enhancing the immersive experience of the country’s culture.
The session was moderated by Madalena Villalobos and Vicente de Paiva Brandão, who led the conversation with the author about his inspiration and creative process. Participants had the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the book and the cultural universe that sustains it. The author highlighted the influence of Indian culture on his writing and how literature can serve as a bridge between different realities.
The Board of the Círculo Eça de Queiroz emphasized the importance of such initiatives in fulfilling the institution’s mission. “Celebrating literature and exploring different cultures and perspectives are fundamental pillars of the Circle. Events like this reinforce the dialogue between traditions and stimulate critical thinking among our members,” it stated. “Since the ties between Portugal and India are centuries-old and marked by a rich cultural exchange, literature allows us to revisit this heritage and strengthen our global identity, promoting the sharing of knowledge and experiences.”
Círculo Eça de Queiroz continues its program with initiatives that encourage intercultural dialogue and literary reflection, reaffirming its commitment to the dissemination of knowledge and the appreciation of diverse artistic expressions.
